Mechanics
Various changes from Deadman: Annihilation meant to make the gamemode more accessible have been reverted. This changes include the return of bank keys, the removal of lootable Deadman’s chests, and the removal of Ancient Warriors’ armour, among other changes.[1]
For quests, Temple of Ikov, The Dig Site, The Tourist Trap, Troll Stronghold, Waterfall Quest, Regicide, One Small Favour, Beneath Cursed Sands, and Monkey Madness II are auto-completed.
For gear changes, godswords drop in their fully completed state from God Wars Dungeon, and all uniques from Nex are dropped in their repaired/completed state. Additionally, if a piece of Ahrim the Blighted’s equipment is rolled on the Barrows drop table, players will instead receive the equivalent Karil the Tainted’s equipment piece. Finally, the boot slot is now available, as a RuneLite plugin is used to visually indicate the members of each team, rather than requiring competitors to wear coloured boots.
Safezones
All safezones except for Varrock have been removed. Players will spawn, respawn, and can home teleport to the Grand Exchange. Safe deposit boxes have been removed and replaced with a designated team storage NPC which can hold up to 40 tradeable items accessible by any member of their team.
Sigils
Sigils are not obtainable as a drop or purchaseable from the skull shop (which has been fully removed). Instead, all players start with eight sigils in their bank: consistency, finality, aggression, rampage, arcane swiftness, gunslinger, swashbuckler, and lightbearer. No other sigils can be obtained in any way.
Breaches
Breaches will return, functioning similarly to those in season 2. They will spawn once a day at 20:00 BST in a multi-combat area and last for 30 minutes. Breach monsters will drop Ancient Warriors’ weapons at a rate in 1/90 and corrupted weapons at a rate of 1/80, and attacking a breach monster skulls the player. The breaches will take place in the following locations:
- Day 1: Mole Hole
- Day 2: Rogues’ Castle
- Day 3: Al Kharid (multicombat area expanded to the south and east to include the Shantay Pass and Kalphite Cave entrance)
- Day 4: Middle of the Wilderness
- Day 5: South Varlamore (near the Colossal Wyrm Remains)
- Day 6: Mor Ul Rek
- Day 7: Ape Atoll
- Day 8: Port Piscarilius (multicombat area expanded to the north-east to include the bank and anglerfish fishing area)
Missions
Twice a day, a mission will be posted for all teams, at 16:00 BST and 00:00 BST. Missions vary in difficulty but always requiring a specific boss or monster to be killed. The monster will drop a mission totem, which must be brought back to the totem trader at the Grand Exchange to complete the mission and claim the reward. The player currently holding the totem will be marked with a red skull, and if killed in PvP, the totem will be lost to the player who killed them, who can turn the totem in for their team instead.
Rewards for turning in a mission totem vary from tier 4 (gear useful for progression) to tier 1 (best-in-slot gear for the finale), with later missions rewarding better gear.[2]
While teams do not know the exact mission or reward in advance, they do know the tier that each mission rewards:
- Day 1: Tier 2, Tier 4
- Day 2: Tier 4, Tier 3
- Day 3: Tier 3, Tier 3
- Day 4: Tier 3, Tier 2
- Day 5: Tier 3, Tier 1
- Day 6: Tier 2, Tier 2
- Day 7: Tier 3, Tier 1
- Day 8: Tier 2, Tier 1
Blood money
Killing other players during the week rewards the killer’s team with blood money. Kills in single-way combat or later in the week will reward more blood money than those in multicombat areas, at breaches, or later in the week. Dying removes 1 blood money from a team’s total, regardless of time or location. A team can never have a negative amount of blood money.
Blood money can be spent on upgrades for use exclusively in the finale. Available upgrades are arcane and dexterous prayer scrolls, trinkets of vengeance with two charges, and Saradomin brew upgrades (replacing one anglerfish in the finale inventory). The price of each upgrade increases each time it is purchased. Additionally, the Vesta’s longsword, Zuriel’s staff, Morrigan’s javelins, and Morrigan’s throwing axes are available for purchase but can only be purchased once per team.
Finale rules
Sigils will be banned during the finale. Other banned items, spellbooks, actions, etc. include:
- Entity Hider, ::renderself, or the Death Dotter plug-in.
- The Lunar or Arceuus spellbooks
- Phoenix necklaces
- Prayer regeneration potions
- Extra Hitpoints gain through non-PvP means
- HP gain from special attacks and blood spells is allowed
- Rock cakes, locator orbs, or any other item that lowers a player’s Hitpoints intentionally
- >1 ring of recoil
- Rings of suffering can have any number of charges
- Pre-potting before a player enters for their team’s match
- Players can pre-pot “in line” while waiting for their turn once their team’s match has begun
- A player placing bets on themselves or other teams
- Pre-seeding the arena with mithril or adamant seeds
All players will begin with a base inventory consisting of a ranging potion, supercombat potion, two Saradomin brews, three Sanfew serums, and nine anglerfish. Anglerfish can be upgraded to Saradomin brews by spending blood money earned by killing other players throughout the week.
