Boss Breaches DMM

The legendary mechanic from Deadman: Armageddon is back, and here to stay!

Every weekend, one of two breaches will appear across Gielinor, offering a shot at Ancient Warrior Weapons and a brand-new set of Permanent Deadman uniques – we’re talking Vengeance, Fairies, and Undead trinkets, plus those snazzy new Charms. Just a heads up: while you’ll be raking in the loot, Sigils and Corrupted Weapons are still off the table, and these breaches are strictly a weekend-only show.

Up to 25 NPCs spawn in area breaches, whereas up to 6 NPCs spawn in specific location ones.

To help keep the breach chaos fair and square, we’ve made some balancing tweaks:

Breach Monster Attack Restrictions:

In the Permanent Deadman world, if you still have protection time remaining, you’re in the no-attack zone! This means you can’t attack anyone in multi or single areas, and breach monsters are off limits too.

Breach Loot Balancing:

Each breach monster now drops 1 Chitin per kill. There’s a 50% chance to receive a second regular supply drop instead of a Chitin.

Breach spawns will occur only at the weekend and every 4 hours in Permanent Deadman, starting on Saturday at 02:00 GMT. The last breach will be Sunday at 22:00 GMT.

Plus, you’ll get a timely alert in your chat box when a breach breaks out – so you never miss the action or the chance to cause a little chaos. You can also talk to Perdu to see where the breach is and for how long it will be around for.

We can’t believe it’s been six whole years since the release of Old School on Mobile. Winter 2017 seems so long ago! But now we’re here, and we’re ready to party. We’re kicking off the festivities with some exciting new updates, as well as a quick run-down of all the awesome features you can already experience on Mobile.

Of course, our biggest announcement is that today the new Mobile UI is live for everyone! Improve your on-the-go adventures with fantastic new features, including Hotkeys.

Check out this video by FullyOSRS, a Mobile veteran. It’s got all you need to know about all things Mobile.

If you can’t see the video above, click here to watch.

NEW MOBILE UI AND FEATURES
Today’s update brings the long-awaited Mobile UI changes. We won’t waste any more time – let’s jump in!

Side Stones

If you can’t see the image above, click here.

The first and most obvious change with the new UI sees all your familiar stones on the right-hand side, in two separate columns. The first column contains panels you’ll use in high-intensity gameplay, while the second column holds all the features you use in more laid-back moments.

To prevent misclicks – and give you a bit more room – we’ve added a handy button to collapse and hide the second column, letting you truly focus on the task at hand. When collapsed, the click area of the side panels is wider than in the current UI, for more accurate tapping.

You’ll notice that the Logout button has moved to the top-left corner to make room for the new Collapse button.

Hotkeys

If you can’t see the image above, click here.

Most players would have used or at least seen the small ‘Function’ button on the current UI. While this had some very nifty features, we needed greater flexibility to achieve that parity we keep yapping about.

Instead, we’re using the free space from that button and the old Side Stones on the left-hand side to give you five custom Hotkeys which can be assigned to a vast array of settings and actions. They’re similar to the F-Keys you’ll find on your regular Desktop client, except with more configurable options that allows us to add more features in the future – woohoo!

Hotkeys can be set to open any panel (such as the Inventory) on either side of the screen, but you’ll need to enable the “Hotkeys open side panels on the left” option in the Settings menu, first. It’s off by default, as opening these interfaces could cause overlap issues with other elements on the left-hand side.

You can set up to five Hotkeys on this menu and aside from the Side Stone usages, most will work by enabling, disabling or customising the selected feature by either tapping on the button or via a long press (depending on the feature). Here’s a full list of features you can assign to Hotkeys:

Inventory

Combat

Stats

Friends

Tap-to-drop

Cure Poison

Entity Interactions

Equipment

Journal

Emotes

Account

Single tap

Quick Prayers

NPC Highlights

Prayer Tab

Logout

Music

Run Mode

Spellbook

Settings

Socials

Edit Ground Items

Toggle Run

Special Attack

If you want to really up your game, you can create entire custom layouts, making it easy to swap between unique interfaces for PvM and Skilling… or any other activity you can imagine! You’ll be able to store up to three loadouts and make edits to the active set of hotkeys. We’ve also added long-tap options to the hotkey button which will let you swap between layouts with ease.

Popout Panel

Current Mobile players will be intimately familiar with the new Popout Panel already! Much like the RuneLite Panel, this nifty inclusion gives you loads of features and options, including XP Tracking, settings for Ground Item Indicators, and all the future additions we plan to make!

Unlike the current placement of the popout panel, which disrupts your use of the Inventory and other right-hand side panels, the new area sits in the bottom left-hand corner.

New Chat

If you can’t see the image above, click here.

The entire chat interface can now be collapsed using the brand-new toggle button, meaning you’ve got more space to play if you’re going it solo!

However, some of you might have noticed that the Chat Filters are no longer visible. Instead, to give you more space, you can long tap on the ‘Speech Bubble’ button to set which chat filter you have active!

We’ve also replaced the tiny speech bubble with a bigger and easier-to-use keyboard button and to compensate for the horizontal space taken up by the new buttons, the chat area itself has been made slightly narrower.

As for that glaring Report button, we’ve tucked it into a long-press option on the chat toggle, so it is not as much of a focus as it was before.

Menu Entry Swapper

If you can’t see the image above, click here.

For those unfamiliar with one of the biggest QoL features in recent years, we’re bringing Menu Entry Swapper to Mobile and the Official Client with this update! MES allows you to swap around the default right-click/single-tap options with any other available. So, for example, if you want to start your pickpocketing journey on the citizens of Lumbridge, you can simply swap the default ‘Attack’ option with the ‘Pickpocket’ option of the minimenu, allowing you to simply click/tap to pickpocket.

Not only are you able to swap around interactable elements of NPCs and other entities, but you can also remove menu options that aren’t used as much. This includes Examine, Use, Cancel, and more! Plus, you can expand the gap between options to give your fingers a bit more wiggle room.

HiScores

Finally, we know how important the HiScores are for most players, so we’re giving you the ability to look up players on the HiScores within the game client! While not as impactful as MES, it’ll be important for cross-checking players climbing past you on the Agility Shortcut of Mount Karuulm. This feature will be in the side panel just like the XP Tracker.

HOTKEY PROFILES

If you can’t see the image above, click here.

Hotkeys can save up to three profiles which you can easily switch between using a long-tap on the Hotkeys Button. If you don’t yet know the best set-ups for your Hotkeys, we have a few suggestions:

Big Bosses & Raids

Recommended loadout for Bossing

If you want to take on the toughest enemies in Gielinor, you’ll need as many features as possible at your disposal. While the Prayer and Spellbook menus are obvious choices, for more advanced bossing, Toggle Run and Special Attack are key.

This setup ensures that your Prayer and Spellbook hotkeys are lined up nicely with their right-side counterparts – perfect for training that muscle memory.

For more chilled-out experiences, Slayer Tasks, and everyday grinds, this layout provides everything you need in one handy package.

Although three of the options mimic the previous layout, you’ll also want quick access to turn off reoccurring drops you don’t care about, and quickly remove any unwanted drops from your Inventory!

Aah, nothing like a nice relaxing skilling session, is there? This layout prioritises your Inventory and the Tap to Drop feature. You also have access to Socials for chatting with friends, and your Spellbook so you can get around easily. Finally, we’ve included Edit Ground Items so you can keep your training area nice and tidy.

https://runestake.com/ – OSRS and Runescape Casino

Runestake is the most rewarding Runescape Casino with the largest community. Every day over 750b is wagered on Runestake’s provably fair casino games. Users are able to deposit and bet OSRS Gold, Runescape 3 Gold, Visa, Mastercard, Paypal, Bank Transfer, and Cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, & Litecoin.

Runestake opened in December 2021 with a never before seen Duel Arena replacement game. Players are able to stake in-game vs other players or hosts and wager their OSRS and Runescape 3 Gold just like the old duel arena days. Runestake has a sophisticated software that tracks players dueling each other in game. In essence it mimics the old duel arena and it has the lowest industry standard house edge on any Runescape Casino at 1%. This game is by far the most innovative form of Runescape Gambling that anyone has ever seen before.

Runestake is dedicated to innovating the Runescape gambling scene and is currently in production of multiple provably fair casino games such as Blackjack, Crash, Coinflip, Case Battles and more.

Currently Runestake offers players 3 Runestake original games:

• Staking

Runestake’s staking game is the lowest house edge casino game in Runescape history. With a 1% tax, the duel arena game allows players to PvP other users on the site and stake in the game of Runescape just like before the duel arena got removed. Nothing is more thrilling than being able to wager your Runescape Gold vs someone else in an RNG driven stake. The duel arena never left it was just given to Runestake instead.

• Slide

Runestake’s slide game is a modern take on a classic Roulette game. Wager your OSRS and Runescape Gold on a roulette wheel and pick from three outcomes, Mage, Range, and Swords. In this innovative Roulette game you can win up to 14x your bet and make insane profits on predicting where the wheel will land. Slide is one of the most thrilling games for users and is the most played Runescape casino game because you are able to play with your friends and make profit together.

• Chest Unboxing

Runestake took a game that is played by millions of people worldwide and revolutionized it to be a refreshing new game enjoyed by the Runescape player base. Players are able to choose from a wide variety of Runescape related chests and win up to 500x their investment. Located inside the chests you can win massive prizes that are very familiar to the Runescape players such as Dragon Claws, Elysian Spirit Shields, 3rd Age Druidic pieces, Twisted Bows, and more. Some of the chests that you can unbox have jackpots of up to 50 Billion OSRS Gold or 400 Billion Runescape 3 Gold. Purchase the chest, roll the wheel, and multiply your investment and make serious Runescape Gold.

Runestake Unique Features:

• Rewards – Runestake’s rewards go above and beyond and rival even the most popular online real money casinos. Runestake offers 10% rakeback on every single bet that a user players on the site. On top of the rakeback, players also unlock cases & caskets as they level up on Runestake. Players unlock a 3 cases for every level they gain after level 2 and they also unlock 1 casket for every 10 levels starting at level 10. These cases and caskets are completely free to open and players can open them automatically upon leveling. These rewards are very similar to the chest unboxing game in that players can massive prizes as they level up. In the highest rewards casket players can spin the wheel for a chance at winning 230 Billion OSRS Gold or 2.1 Trillion Runescape 3 Gold. The minimum prize in this casket is 12 Billion OSRS Gold.

• Refer A Friend

Runestake’s refer a friend program (Affiliate System) is a way for Runescape players to earn passive Runescape Gold. Invite your friends to the platform with the link located in your affiliate dashboard and for every bet they place on the website you will earn 10% of the house edge on their bets that you can instantly convert into Runescape gold. The more people you refer, the more Runescape gold you can earn. Affiliates are treated extremely well on Runestake because they are the backbone of the community. What’s a better way to earn passive Runescape Gold without having to lift a finger?

• Instant Deposits & Withdraws

Before Runestake launched the Runescape Gambling scene was very lackluster. Websites like Runechat, Rune365, and Runebet are fast on deposits but once players win large they hit the slow mode button on withdraws. Websites like this try and take advantage of their players and prevent them withdrawing in the hopes that they lose their money back to the casino. This is incredibly shady in the scene and Runestake launched to provide Runescape players the ability to bet their Runescape Gold and claim their earnings instantly without ever attempting to deceive players. Runescape casinos have to operate under these two extremely important principles: Fair & Fun. Runestake is the only Runescape gambling website that operates with those two in mind.

On Runestake you can deposit with OSRS Gold, Runescape Gold, Visa, Mastercard, Bank Transfer, Paypal, and various Cryptocurrencies in order to get Runestake tokens that you can bet and win Runescape gold. Whenever you are ready to cash out your profits you can instantly convert these Runestake tokens to OSRS Gold & Runescape Gold.

During the Winter Summit at the end of last year, we posted our plans for a Mobile Top-Level Interface (TLI) Rework. After the blog came out, we received a lot of positive feedback about its potential – but also some understandable concerns.

It was clear that our blog had failed to really showcase the potential of the new layout, or properly justify our approach from a player perspective. For that, we can only apologise. Going into the holiday period at the end of last year, we didn’t give the time to explain our new design in detail or to address your feedback directly afterwards.

This time, we’re going to give you the FULL breakdown of the design. Not only that, but we’ll be visually showcasing its potential across areas of the game which will be familiar to all of you, from chilled-out activities like Fishing and Pickpocketing to more intensive activities such as The Gauntlet!

By far the most exciting update to this project is that we will have fully functioning Beta Worlds!

Although we had some unforeseen technical difficulties when releasing these worlds for Forestry: Part One, we’re confident in saying that these are in a better place than before!

The team has been able to create Betas as we saw with the recent Desert Treasure II ones, but we’ve never been able to port in content that we are currently working on without worrying about a potential impact on the rest of the game. Now we finally have the opportunity to safely test out things that we’re working on, from Forestry: Part Two to new bosses, and most importantly for this newspost, the new Mobile UI. In fact, this will be the very first thing we use to test out the new Beta Worlds!

You can try out the New Mobile UI Beta on Thursday, 17th August.

Before that happens, though, we want to visually demonstrate what the new Mobile UI can do. Further down in this newspost you can find a hands-on preview of The Gauntlet and some Skilling finger-tapping action! You can also expect a livestream on Monday, 21st August at 17:00 BST over on our Twitch channel, where we’ll be addressing FAQs once the Beta is live.

We know how important it is to get this right, especially for those of you that mainly play on mobile. We want to ensure that everyone can get their hands on the Beta – it’s going to take a little getting used to the new style and we’ll want to get your feedback as soon as possible.

We hope you can give us a second chance to unpack why we think this is a good thing for the platform and the future of the game. We want to make the best mobile experience possible!

Why ‘Out With The Old’?
Before we jump into the shiny new interface features, let’s break down the current UI, so we’re all up to speed.

Along the left and right sides of the screen, you’ll see something very familiar – the classic OSRS stones. This is where you access all of your side panels, and it’s functionally identical to its desktop counterpart, including the ability to only have one open at a time, with the more important stones appearing higher up on the screen.

In the top-right you’ll find the Minimap, again, identical to the desktop UI, but with the added feature to minimise it via the World Map button, giving you more space. At the top left is the chat, a classic staple and again, very similar to desktop in how it works, but flipped vertically and positioned so that it won’t be obscured by the on-screen keyboard. This can also be minimised by tapping on the currently-selected filter, similar to the side panels. Tapping the speech bubble on the chat line will open up your device’s keyboard to type a message.

There are also a couple of handy utilities like tap-to-drop, which you can find in the function button above the left side stones. On the very right is the newly-added side panel, which functions the same as the Desktop Client – this isn’t enabled by default but contains an XP Tracker, Ground Item Indicator options and the Loot Tracker, with more to come in future.

An Opportunity For More
The current UI has lasted four years and arguably worked well enough. But when it comes to adding features that enhance the user experience, we don’t have much room for expansion. We’ve all enjoyed the extra features that third-party clients have provided us for years and we’ve been integrating some of the features into our own client as described above, but in many cases we’ve found the current mobile interface just doesn’t have space for them.

Chat

The chat buttons are pulled straight from the desktop interface. They’re pretty chunky on mobile and cover most of the top section of the screen, which blocks your thumb from tapping far into the distance. Meanwhile the big red ‘Report’ button sits front-and-center above your gameplay, demanding attention. To open the keyboard, you need to tap the tiny speech bubble on the chat line, which is not only unclear but also inconvenient when you accidentally tap it during your adventures.

Function Button

Just below the chat is the function button, which holds some very useful features (most notably, tap-to-drop). Unfortunately, the button isn’t very responsive, subject to that classic ‘lag’ that a lot of buttons in OSRS have, with no visual feedback. Its size also makes it harder to interact with. This would be an excellent place to put new features if we could fix the current issues!

Popout Panel

On the right side of the screen is one of our newest additions: the popout panel, a familiar concept borrowed from RuneLite and beloved by many! Unfortunately, its familiar position doesn’t translate particularly well to mobile, hence why it’s not enabled by default. It takes up the whole edge of the screen, and when open it entirely obscures the Minimap, Orbs and Inventory – arguably the most important features of the whole interface!

Overlays

When activity gets more complicated on screen, things start to go wrong. Imagine, say, you’re in Soul Wars and have opened a clue (just go with it). Our new Clue Helper will open up, but we also need to show you the Soul Wars overlay, your opponent’s HP, stat boosts, buffs, and debuffs. When you open your Prayer panel these overlays need to move out of the way, which means as you change prayers and eat food, these large overlays are jumping all over the place, and almost obscuring the very centre of your screen!

Room for New Features

It’s difficult finding room to add new features. Let’s say you have Ground Item Indicators on, but we want you to be able to toggle that during gameplay, as it can get very cluttered if there are lots of items on the ground. We could add that to the function button, but then we’re sacrificing tap-to-drop – or add it to the popout panel, but then it would require two taps (one of which obscures half the screen). We need a space to add new features, with room to grow in the future.

Visual Consistency

Looking at the whole interface, the visual style is somewhat inconsistent. Take for example the side stones becoming red when selected, while the chat stones invert or some buttons have black outlines such as side stones, while others don’t. The side panel has a rugged-looking border to it, while the Minimap has smooth metallic shading, and the popout panel has a solid rectangular background while the rest of the UI is translucent or appears to be floating. It’s confusing, and just not as sleek and user-friendly as it could be.

What’s New?
With all the issues above in mind, we set to work on redesigning the interface. We know there are some pretty major changes here, but we can assure you that they’ve been made while carefully considering all different playstyles.

We’ve also given the UI a new lick of paint, which hopefully keeps the Old School feel while giving the UI consistency and making it more aesthetically pleasing, particularly for new players jumping in. We’d like to see what you think of the new UI design taking everything into account, so let us know how you feel!

Understandably this can be a bit overwhelming alongside that UI design changes, but we hope that we can find a good balance for everyone. With that out of the way, let’s dive into the nitty-gritty of what’s changed and why we want to change it!

Side Stones

One of the biggest changes will affect the most used part of the interface. We’ve moved all of the stones over to the right-hand of the screen. Not only does this provide some consistency in terms of design, but it also stops the overlays from jumping around to avoid the side panels, as they will stay in the same area. This should free up more space for the new features we want to add.

With the new UI, you’ll have all of the familiar stones on the right-hand side, in two separate columns. We’ve made sure that the left column contains those panels you’re going to use across in high-intensity gameplay throughout the game, while the second column will hold features that aren’t necessary for fast-paced action! This also means any interfaces that open due to the panels, such as Inventory, Friends List or Prayer Book, will all now be on the right-hand side. We’ll touch on the benefits of this a little later!

What else? Well, you may have already spotted that the Logout button has moved. We needed to free up one stone for the collapse button, so we settled on the logout button (similar to how the Resizable-Modern layout works on the desktop). It can now be found in the top-left with the reworked chat interface. The top-left of the screen is a typical place to put back buttons or menu buttons in mobile apps, so while it’s a bit strange that it still opens a panel on the other side of the screen, we reckon it’s a reasonable tradeoff.

To help prevent further misclicks – and to give you a little bit more room – we’ve added a handy button that will collapse and hide the second column. This means you can truly focus in the heat of the battle! As a nifty addition, when collapsed, the click area of the side panels is actually wider than the current UI, meaning more accurate tapping. We’ve also added a background to the column, so we can keep the rounded shape of the buttons without any visible gaps between the columns.

One of the biggest feedback points from the original newspost was that you didn’t want to be overloading actions onto your right hand, particularly during intense PvM or PvP encounters. We should have addressed this in our original post, so apologies. Throughout our testing, we’ve found that using the new Hotkeys feature (more on those shortly) spreads out sequential actions alternately between both hands, which makes for faster, more reliable and more comfortable button-tapping goodness!

Let’s take a look at a simple example:

Left hand: Prayer Book → Right hand: Protect from Mage → Left hand: Backpack → Right hand: Range Switch → Left hand: Tap Zulrah

A written example can only do so much, so we’d highly recommend checking out the gameplay videos further down in the newspost to give you a visual representation of both footage from the Mobile Client itself and the perspective of seeing someone’s inputs.

We will preface that it will probably take a little time to re-learn the muscle memory, but we think the overall benefits this and the other features bring are worth it, especially for those of you who mainly play on mobile!

Another feedback point was around a Left-handed version of the UI, which we are open to investigating. However, this is not something we will be able to implement right now.

Hotkeys

Introducing Hotkeys! Previously, we had the small ‘Function’ buttons which appeared above the side stones on the left-hand side. They worked well for the small number of features we had in mind, but they also presented problems in terms of functionality and responsiveness.

Instead, we’ve used the free space to implement five customisable Hotkeys, which can be assigned to a variety of settings and actions. They are very similar to F-Keys found on Desktop, but with a wider array of features which we can also increase over time based on feedback. We can also add brand new features here too.

And speaking of new features, we’re already planning a few that will be very familiar to users of RuneLite, such as tile-highlighting mode and a quick option to toggle ground item names – two features we’ve been unable to fit into the existing UI. That also means adding extra ways for you to do things you’re already used to, like a Special Attack button, Quick-Prayers toggle or Run toggle.

With Hotkeys, you can customise your buttons to exactly your playstyle, or for a very specific activity, making it easier than ever to go between your activities across the game.

You can set up to five Hotkeys here in this menu and most will work by either enabling/disabling the selected feature (like tile-highlighting mode) or opening up to the side stone panels (such as the Inventory, Equipment or even your Music).

As an example, your setup could include having the Backpack and Prayer tiles, for the fastest flow during combat, Ground Items and special attack buttons for convenience during a Slayer Task, or Tap-to-drop during Blast Furnace. Oh, and these buttons are much more responsive than the old function button, with Tap-to-drop and Single-to modes now toggling instantly!

We want to stress that even though the Interfaces of the Side Panels and the panels themselves are all on the right-hand side, the flow of how you play by using the Hotkeys gives a much more comfortable and responsive experience that will benefit everyone!

Popout Panel

For those of you that currently play mobile, you should be very familiar with the new popout panel that was introduced last year! Much like the RuneLite panel, it gives you a lot more features and options like XP Tracking, the newly introduced Ground Item Indicators and Loot Tracking, as well as a number of future additions that we can’t speak about at the moment…

Unlike the current placement of the popout panel, which completely interferes with your gameplay by disrupting your use of the Inventory and other right-hand side panels, the new area sits in the bottom left-hand corner. It also has three separate modes: Hidden, Full and Mini.

Hidden: Just a small button to be expanded.

Mini: Only showcases one of the panel features in a minimal style; useful to keep track of one specific piece of information without taking up a lot of the screen.

Full: A full version that will give you as much information and options as we can fit into that screen. This does obscure the chatbox, but with all the side panels on the right, you’ll still have access to most things.

New Chat

The entire chat interface can now be collapsed using the brand-new toggle button, meaning you’ve got more space to play if you’re going it solo!

However, if you just want one chat channel open without the filters at the top, you can use the ‘Chat Filter’ button to only display the current filter you have in focus, so you can have easy access to those in-depth Clan discussions around the best spot in MLM. With the filters hidden, you’ll also have more lines visible, which not only means you can see more chat, but you’ll also be able to tap further into the distance.

We’ve also replaced the tiny speech bubble with a bigger and easier-to-use keyboard button. It’s been made deliberately small and sandwiched between two relatively unimportant buttons, as we don’t want you to open your keyboard accidentally during high-octane and intense activities. In the future, the chat line will also have clipboard support, caret support and selection support.

To compensate for the horizontal space taken up by the new buttons, the chat area itself has been made slightly narrower – but the whole chat, including the buttons, still takes up the same amount of space as before! You might also notice that all of the buttons down the left side of the screen have the same width. This is to help the interface feel more balanced, and to keep overlays such as health bars and the Clue Helper more stable in position, with the wider buttons being slightly easier to tap, too.

As for that glaring Report button, we’ve tucked it into a long-press option on the chat toggle, so it is not as much of a focus as it was before.

Minimap

There isn’t too much to discuss with the Minimap, aside from us rearranging the minimised version to look cleaner and take up less space! The Wiki button and World Map buttons have also been reworked for visual consistency and easier tapping.

A Clearer Look at Mobile
Well, that was a hefty amount of information to throw at you! Like we said at the beginning, one of the biggest misses with the original newspost is not showcasing more videos of the rework, and especially not showcasing content that a lot of you would be familiar with.

From the Rooftop Agility and Pickpocketing to the thrills of The Gauntlet, we’ve put together some showcase videos that will give you a more realistic idea of the feel of the mobile rework. They feature both direct footage of the game and footage from a J-Mod’s perspective – fingers and all!

If you can’t see the video above, click here to watch – The Hunleff fight begins at 5:45!

A final note: We feel like these improvements to the Mobile UI will make the overall experience better across the game, for everyone. This will also provide us with more room to improve and add more features in the future. Hopefully providing this information now and running a Beta will give you all the opportunity to give us feedback!

This is something that is super exciting and will make a lot more areas of the game more viable for everyone playing on mobile, which is a big win. We’re keen to hear what you all think and look forward to seeing you at the upcoming Beta!

This week, we’re introducing a holiday event full of love and dazzling colours! It’s Pride 2022!

Pride 2022
Pride Month is a time to celebrate LGBTQIA+ identity all over the world, and Old School RuneScape is no exception! We’re proud of our fantastic, diverse community, all linked together by a mutual love of the game. This year’s Pride Event is our commitment to helping our LGBTQIA+ players feel safe, included, and supported in Old School – but everyone can join in the fun!

Gilbert the Leprechaun has returned to Gielinor and is once again asking for your help to spread colourful joy across the land. Catch up with him south-east of Barbarian Village, on the banks of the River Lum – and bring your greenest thumbs!

The Pride event is available on both members and free-to-play worlds and completing it will score you some fabulously floral FashionScape: your very own Rainbow Flower Crown! You’ll also receive the Rainbow Scarf from 2017, if you don’t have one already.

The whole Old School team has worked hard to create this event, and we hope that you enjoy playing it as much as we enjoyed bringing it to life!

Also of note: Gilbert has had such a warm welcome that he’ll be sticking around even after the event to hand out Rainbow Flower Crowns and Scarves to anyone who’d like one. Of course, you’ll still be able to claim these items from Diango and your Player Owned House.

Happy Pride, everyone!

Here’s the deets:

Date: June 23rd 2022

Time: 18:00 BST – 19:30 BST

World: 500 (Free-to-play)

Secondary World: 562 (Free-to-play)

We will be walking during the Pride March to allow everyone to keep up, starting at the location of the event. For more information please refer to the picture below!

We J-Mods will be attending in our finest rainbow gear – and we can’t wait to see what colourful outfits you all bring to the table!

We want everyone to feel safe and included during the event, so please note that our Player Support Teams will be on-hand to remove anyone looking to spoil the fun. This is an event to celebrate our LGBTQIA+ players, and we will not tolerate intimidation or harassment.

Further Diversity and Inclusion Changes

Old School RuneScape really is OLD School RuneScape, and we recognise that certain elements of the game are far less acceptable than they were 20 years ago. Moving forward, we’ll address a number of issues to make Gielinor a more inclusive and welcoming place to be.

We’ll tell you all about our plans in the next Gielinor Gazette, which is due at the end of the month. Stay tuned!

Pet Changes from Poll 76
It’s the update you’ve been waiting for – time to fill up your menagerie with a collection of pet changes!

First and foremost, any pets you receive in-game will now be automatically insured. If you’re unlucky enough to lose your pet, you will be able to retrieve it from Probita for the standard 1 million GP fee.

Both players who ‘would have been followed’ but did not receive their pet and players who have lost their pet on death can collect it from Probita, as long as it was marked in their Collection Log. Bank Placeholders also work as sufficient proof that the pet existed.

Unfortunately, we’re unable to retrieve pets which were received and then lost before the Collection Log was released, or pets whose Bank Placeholder has been deleted.

Any pets you achieve in-game are now automatically insured. If you are unlucky enough to lose your pet, your pet is redeemable from Probita for her usual fee of 1 million GP.

If you’ve previously paid an insurance fee, it’ll be added to Probita’s reclaim fee coffer and can then be used as a discount towards any further reclaims. For example, if you’ve insured two pets for 500,000 GP each, you will be given 1 free reclaim token. If you’ve insured 5 pets, you will be given 2 free reclaim tokens and a 500,000 GP discount towards your next reclaim token purchase. Nice!

Lastly, we’ve enabled loot drop broadcasts for all pets, including duplicate drops. Happy hunting!

New Mobile Client Features and Full Release
Great news for adventurers on the go – we’ve fully released our new client features on both Android and iOS devices! The new client will become available over the course of today, so keep an eye out for an update!

This means that the Java app is no longer in use. To play Old School RuneScape on mobile, your device must meet the following requirements:

Android: Android 8.0 (Oreo) or later, and at least 2GB RAM.

iOS: iOS Version 13.0 or later.

On the upside, mobile players now have access to all the exciting features we’ve been beta testing, including:

Buff Bars

Fishing Spot Indicators

HUD Improvements (NPC Information and Combat Styles)

Agility and Slayer Helpers

Chambers of Xeric Helper

Woodcutting and Ore Respawn Timers

Increased Draw Distance

Navigation Tile Indicators

Chat Improvements

Entity Highlights for NPCs

And more!

So what’s next? Take a look at this newspost, where we share all the details about future client features we’re looking to implement.

Other Changes

Increased the Friends Chat capacity from 100 to 500. Please note that this change does NOT allow for even larger raiding parties in Chambers of Xeric or battles in Soul Wars. We apologise if this is disappointing.

The Minimap’s HP orb now shows your health in Last Man Standing as a proportion of 99, as that’s the base HP level used in the minigame.

The Edgeville and Ardougne teleport levers now have a separate warning message if they are used on High Risk Worlds. Both this new message and the pre-existing warning can be toggled on and off via the Settings menu, lest players change their minds about dismissing them permanently. The warning on the exit of Ferox Enclave can also be re-enabled via the Settings menu.

The appearance of the Observatory Professor, if he appears in Traiborn’s quiz during Recipe for Disaster, has been corrected.

All Birds’ Nests will now take four times longer to disappear from the floor.

Ironmen fighting the Kalphite Queen will no longer find her lair devoid of Potato Cacti.

TzHaar Bank Chests can now be accessed from the side. Thrilling!

The entrance and exits of the Revenant Caves are now even further apart.
