Varlamore Tweaks & Drop Rates – OSRS

Varlamore Tweaks & Drop Rates

Those much-anticipated drop rates for Perilous Moons and the Colosseum are here! Along with more Varlamore tweaks and a peek at next week’s update.

Perilous Moons & Colosseum Drop Rates
Perilous Moons

With every boss encounter comes the burning question: ‘What are the drop rates for the rewards?’ Well, the wait is over. We’re revealing the much-anticipated drop rates for the Perilous Moons bosses! Here’s what you need to know:

Defeating a Moons of Peril boss grants you a 1/56 chance to secure a random item from their exclusive drop table.

Blood Moon of Peril – 1/56 chance after defeating the Blood Moon boss to obtain a piece of Blood Moon gear:

  • Blood Moon Armour Pieces
  • Dual Macuahuitl

Blue Moon of Peril – 1/56 chance after defeating the Blood Moon boss to obtain a piece of Blue Moon gear:

  • Blue Moon Armour Pieces
  • Blue Moon Spear

Eclipse Moon of Peril – 1/56 chance after defeating the Eclipse Moon boss to obtain a piece of Eclipse Moon gear:

  • Eclipse Moon Armour Pieces
  • Eclipse Atlatl

Furthermore, upon defeating all three bosses in one run, you’ll be given an additional 1/56 chance at any item! This boosts your overall odds significantly to 1/14, making these rewards more common than the average Barrows item.

In a move to enhance your looting experience, we’ve also implemented a duplication protection system. This means you won’t receive duplicate items from a set until you’ve completed the set, ensuring a smoother progression towards collecting all set pieces.

On that note, let’s continue with Fortis Colosseum drop rates…

Fortis Colosseum

Once you’ve completed Wave 6 and for each wave afterwards, the Unique Drop Table is unlocked. If you roll on this table you do not roll on the Normal Drop Table for that wave. Glory will NEVER affect your odds. The base for rolling on the Unique Drop Table is 1/220. This number can be modified based on your current wave +1, which equals to:

  • Wave 6 – 1/108
  • Wave 7 – 1/92
  • Wave 8 – 1/76
  • Wave 9 – 1/60
  • Wave 10 – 1/44
  • Wave 11 – 1/28

If you’re lucky enough to roll up the Unique Drop Table, a second roll will determine which unique item you receive. Otherwise, you’ll be rolling against that wave’s normal drop table. Here are the odds for the Unique Drop Table:

  • Echo Crystal – 6/10*
  • Sunfire Fanatic Armour Piece – 3/10**
  • Tonalztics of Ralos – 1/10

Other Rare Items include:

  • Smol Heredit – 1/200***
  • Dizana’s Quiver – Only acquired upon a completion of the Colosseum.****

* Rolling an Echo Crystal will also have a 1/10 chance of receiving either 2 or 3 Echo Crystals instead.

** Obtaining these will favour pieces you haven’t already received, otherwise it is random.

*** The pet can only be rolled on completion of Wave 11 and its odds are not affected by any other factors.

**** You can also gamble Quivers for a 1/200 chance to receive Smol Heredit by talking to Minimus.

Varlamore Updates
Colosseum

  • The Ranged Warbanders have been given a little buff, so their ranged level more accurately reflects the rest of their stats. Watch out though, as this means they will hit a little harder now!
  • We’ve reduced the Warband Melee’s maxhit to give you a little more of a fighting chance up against those fellas.
  • Those taking on the Colosseum will now receive the correct number of Glory for stacked modifiers.
  • We’ve upped the Colosseum security so you’ll no longer find NPCs wandering the arena if they aren’t supposed to be there.
  • All of the Fortis Colosseum NPCs now have their full and correct attack style information when using Monster Examine.
  • You can now trade the Dizana’s Quiver for Sunfire Splinters by talking to Minimus.

Perilous Moons

  • We’ve taken a look at the Eclipse Boss and how much damage she’s taking when at low hp, so you should no longer hit so many 1s!
  • Sulphur Nagua’s special attack will no longer bump them out of combat (which removes the window of opportunity for other pesky enemies getting a turn in when they shouldn’t!)
  • When fighting Moon bosses, the Ring of Recoil now correctly loses charges.
  • Sipping tea from camps in the ruins will no longer be delayed during Perilous Moons.
  • We’ve removed the forced camera movement when traversing Perilous Moons to make the journey more comfortable.
  • To make it easier to escape the Perilous Moons bosses, we’ve made quick-escape the default option for the stairs.
  • To reflect the lore around the Perilous Moons dungeon being newly discovered, you’ll no longer find the diary entries detailing the dungeon’s potions during the quest, only when you revisit the area.
  • It’s now consistently possible to kill Eclipse Moon during the Clone phase – even with single hitting weapons!
  • We’ve now made it easier to tell when you’ve succeeded with the Fishing minigame during the Neypotzli dungeon, so now, when you have your net in the right place, you’re guaranteed 1 fish, when you have it in the right place and succeed the roll, you’ll receive 2 fish plus XP.
  • You can now use a Stab attack style with the Dual Macuahuitl.

General

  • You can now cover all of your Falconry fun with a one-time fee, and it’s easier than ever – we’ve added the ability to right-click pay option on Matthias!
  • Master hunters can relax, we’ve fixed a bug preventing you from using the Hunter Guild teleport on your Skill and Max Capes when you had used all of your Chinchompa teleports.
  • The Huntsman’s Kit will now correctly let you store all your hunter items – however, black chinchompas will wriggle free and won’t be stored in your kit.
  • We’ve tweaked the way the Hunters’ Rumours work so you’ll go a little less dry on the drops for many of the rumour creatures.
  • A bug has been fixed which means you will now only be able to use the Meat Sack for Hunter activities.
  • We’ve upped Irit Tar ranged strength to +60, so you’ll get a little more bang for your muck! (see what we did there?)
  • The Moonlight Potion now has the correct description, factoring in its boost to attack and strength alongside defence.
  • For those undertaking A Ribbiting Tale, you can no longer escape Cuthbert’s wrath by walking away. The furious frog will now continue to be aggro when you come back in range.
  • Wyrms are back on the menu, boys! We’ve made sure Wyrms are showing in the Slayer Log.
  • The stump in the Oasis no longer stops you taking an axe if you are carrying a combat axe.
  • The Civitas illa Fortis teleport in the Portal Nexus interface now has the correct icon.
  • The quetzals in Fortis have had a reshuffle, so you’ll now find the more commonly used bird closer to a teleport.
  • We’ve increased the maximum capacity of the Portal Nexus, so it can contain all teleports once again.
  • An issue has been fixed where Echo Boots were losing charges in PvP scenarios.
  • The Mixed Hide costume set can now be stored in the POH Costume room.
  • Group Ironmen will now be able to correctly share hunter mixes and butterflies with their group.
  • We’ve reduced a clue scroll requirement to mean you only need one piece of the Sunfire armour set to complete it.

Another one worth noting, shortly after the release of Varlamore we fixed a bug where Sunfire Runes were giving XP per rune made rather than per essence used. At the time, this was being used to gain far higher rates of Runecraft XP than intended. While we don’t intend to revert back to those rates, we do want to make Sunfire Runes a bit more generous. As such, we’ve doubled the Runecraft XP given for making them.

Next Week – Undead Pirates

We’ve not got much to say here, but wanted to give you all a heads-up that our low-level Wilderness hotspot is releasing as part of next week’s game update.

So if you’re looking to dust off your Pure, now’s the time to book some time off or plan an awfully suspicious, nondescript headache… For a full list of what to expect, here’s everything we’re looking to include in next week’s update:

  • Undead Pirates added and landscape changes to the Chaos Temple.
  • New rewards in the form of Adamant seeds and the Teleport Anchoring Scroll (formerly named ‘Blip blocking scroll’, but now it has a nautical word in the mix!).
  • A pirate ship on the Wilderness’ eastern shore, housing a chest that players can open for additional loot rolls using keys that are dropped by Undead Pirates.
  • An adjusted Hard Clue Scroll location, moving from the Chaos Temple itself to a spot just north, by the nearby Wilderness Obelisk.
  • Improved opt-in loot and XP rates from the Wilderness Agility Course.
  • Various QoL changes to imbued God cape purchasing and Wilderness Slayer, including improved Superior rates, NPC quantities and loot tables.
  • Removing the PJ Timer on Worlds 318 and 319, with improved messaging to boot. The PJ Timer was never supposed to be added to these worlds and in-game messaging had been incorrect for some time, this change is to make good on what we said our plan was when first introducing the PJ Timer in this blog from 2022 so that players who primarily enjoy a slightly different style of PKing might get the chance to jump back in!

If you’re looking for a reminder on exactly what to expect, you can check out the original blog here or get more information about some of the rewards and other content changes (listed above) in this poll blog.

We’ll see you in the Wilderness! Just remember to not bring anything you’re not willing to lose, and to go easy on us if you see us out there…

Other Changes

  • If a player is prevented from chopping the mahogany and teak trees in Murcaily’s Hardwood Grove due to having not helped out around the village enough, Murcaily will now warn them of this before trying to take 100 sticks from them for entry.
  • The dark chests of the Isle of Souls no longer claim that you might have received a Medium Clue Scroll every time you loot them.
  • Equipping the Lightbearer shortly before your special attack energy was due to restore will no longer delay the energy restoration.
  • The werewolf who receives the stick in the underground Agility course no longer wanders around so much.
  • If you need to get replacement railings from Lawgof during the Dwarf Cannon quest, he now gives as many replacements as you still need, rather than just one.
